MUSTERSERIE „REDESIGN LACE“

Crossover Design: Tradition – Modernity

Today, lace designs are used in a wide variety of products and materials. All designs are based on traditional lace designs from different eras and cultures, invariably combined with time-intensive craftsmanship.
Free access to the Plauen lace archive allowed extensive research into patterns and materials, which became the basis for new interpretations. The newly created motifs are intended to be even more industrially reproducible, their application should be diverse.

„Lace as a textile combines traditional female craftsmanship with a high aesthetic standard. Industrial production analogous to Plauen lace allows for multiple replicas. Beate Wöhrle transforms these aspects in her creations at a high level into a modern design and thus innovatively reinterprets lace.“
Beate Schad, Curator and Expert of Plauen Lace
