One of the most fascinating properties of porcelain is its translucency, which can be displayed to great effect in illuminated relief. The relief of this lampshade is a translation of a magnified glaze whose reference to microscopic views opens up an amazing sculptural effect. The light invites touching and exploration, provoking interactions and stimulating people’s minds.

Beate‘s work is both sophisticated and unique. This is because she dialectically dissolves dichotomous concepts and elevates them to her own unique creativity. For example, through her stay in Japan and deep understanding of her Japanese friends, she has come to understand the dialogue with materials, the inclusion of nature and imperfections, which she combines with her refined design theory of modernism to bring forth new forms.
